Well, it’s been an absolutely mental couple of months for us, as you can probably tell from a) our lack of blog posts, or b) our new YouTube page with some recent studio footage. Yep, we’ve been keeping really busy in the studio for the past few months, and haven’t really had a day off since Christmas, so you can expect some very cool stuff from us soon.

As you may, or may not know, we recently released our latest single with Majestic, entitled “Tonight” featuring the vocal talents of none other than the lovely Clare Evers. That track has been on the go for a long time, and other projects meant we couldn’t release it as quickly as we’d liked, but it’s now available for download from all good download stores, with House, Garage and Bassline mixes from ourselves, TreMoreFire Dubz and Majestic. Check it out right now!

We’ve also been very busy concentrating on a new project which takes us in a totally different direction. We’re not yet sure whether we’re working on an EP or an album, but one thing is for sure this new stuff is 100% ours and we’re really pleased with how its coming together so far! We don’t really know how to class this stuff or what genre it would fall into, but it’s very exciting and it’s giving us a chance to be really creative with our sounds and production techniques. Some of you may have heard our most recent track, nineteen12nine, which we uploaded to our SoundCloud page not too long ago… This is really our first step into this new sound and the EP/album we’re working on; so check that out if you haven’t already and see what we’re working on.

We’re back in the studio tonight to get down to the mix of the 2nd track. Again, it’s 100% our baby - all the music, all the lyrics, everything; so we’re really hyped about it and hope that you guys will like it!

On the Garage tip, we recently had one of our mixes we did for HedKandi featured on the Addicted To Bass 2010 compilation, which is always nice! We’re also awaiting the release of our mix of Aaron Wride’s “Since You’ve Been Gone”, which will also feature mixes from Agent X and Bashy, so keep your eye out for that.

Also on the way is our remix of “Why” by Fireman ft. Hayleigh; an Electro mix we did a while back for Nev Wright and his camp. It’s due for release shortly on Urban Shakedown Recordings featuring additional mixes from Jamie Duggan and Paleface. Again, you can check out a clip of our mix on our SoundCloud page.

Thats about it for now, we just wanted to give you a little update about whats been going on and what you can expect from us over the coming months. If you’re on Twitter, don’t forget to follow us (@Control_S) there for daily updates on what we’re up to, and of course on Facebook. SoundCloud is now our home for any new material we want to preview, so get signed up and follow us there also.

Keep the feedback coming and hopefully we’ll have some new music for you to buy soon!

Much love,

Ok, so it’s 28th February and we’re only just giving you our first blog entry of 2010… How slack are we?!? Don’t worry though, we haven’t just been putting our feet up and forgetting about you all - we’ve been really busy working on various projects since Christmas. We just thought we’d give you all a quick update so you know where we are and what we’re up to!

As you may have already seen, we’re kicking off 2010 with a slightly new image and brand new logo, designed by our good friend Simon Tibbs, who also did the artwork for ‘Tonight’; the track we did with Majestic and Clare Evers last year. We figured it was time for a bit of a change to bring ourselves into 2010… What do you all think??

So, since Christmas we’ve been working on loads of new music for various projects. We’re currently working on material for Majestic’s second mixtape, which is still very much in the early stages but will hopefully be available in the next few months (though don’t hold us to that!). We’ve also been working on a Control-S EP, something we’ve wanted to do for a long time but never got round to, so thats pretty exciting! The EP is going to be very different from anything else you’ve heard from us, we’re really using this as a bit of a platform to experiment with no rules, so watch out for that - we’ll give you full details when we know more!

For all the fans of our Garage stuff, don’t worry - there’s more stuff coming for you too. Before Christmas we did another 2-Step remix for HedKandi which has now been accepted and will be featured on the next Ministry of Sound Addicted To Bass album, which will be available next month. We’ve also just done another Essential Garage show for Ministry of Sound Radio - check that out HERE (download link coming soon). This year we’re also going to try to get some of our unreleased stuff out there from the past few years - it’s no good having it all just sitting on our hard drive so we’re going to work on getting those available to you.

All in all, it’s been a pretty busy few months and it looks like it’s going to be a good year for us with loads of projects happening already. We want to hear from you though… What do you guys want to hear from us this year? Get in touch via Facebook, Twitter or through the Contact Us page on the website!

More news coming soon so keep your eye on the website to be the first to know…

Much love,

Just a quick update for you all tonight… Mainly ‘cos I can’t be bothered to type out a long ’story’ - I’m lazy like that! Anyway, we’ve been keeping busy this month with writing new material and trying to get ready for a big studio move, so things are exciting to say the least!

I just thought I’d let you all have a quick listen to something we finished recently. Again, very different from our ‘normal’ style (what is our normal style these days though??), but definitely one for the clubs! You can hear it right now over on the Audio page of the website, or via our SoundCloud page, if you’re into that! We might even be old school and upload it to our MySpace page!!

The track is called “Why” and is by Fireman ft. Hayleigh - there’s been a big bassline mix from Nev Wright & Detox floating around for a while which has been huge, our mix is another one for the package which will hopefully be seeing a release shortly - more info when we know!

Please guys, take a listen and let us know what you think either by commenting on this blog or via the Contact page on the website.

More news coming in the next few weeks on something very exciting, so watch out for that! Also pictures of the new studio once we’re in there, trust me… It’s worth the wait!

Thanks guys (and girls),

Martin

Well, that was a brief ‘Summer’ wasn’t it!?! You know what, I was going through the website earlier today and it shocked me to see when our last Blog entry was… I feel ashamed! Nearly 3 months has passed since our last offering of Control-S-based news!?! To all our devoted fans (hi mum!), I apologize for our apparent lack of communication! I think we need to employ someone to write down all of our ideas/news… Anyone fancy a job? We’ll pay you in Skittles - who could turn it down??

Aaaanyway, though it may seem like we’ve been quiet for the past few months we’ve actually been pretty damn busy! Lots of stuff going on behind the scenes, which we’ll try to get some samples up of for you to check out, and just lots of ideas floating around, which is nice! Those of you following us on Twitter will know that I’ve been pretty inspired as of late, so we’ve been working really hard in the studio trying to get all this inspiration out!

I’m sure many of you have heard the remix we did for Chanel of “If You Love Me”, which is now featured on the Essential Garage Collection mixed by DJ EZ. We also did a remix for The Audioplayerz not so long ago which will hopefully be available soon… I have to say this is probably my favorite work yet, so make sure you check it out! Aside from those we’ve just been concentrating on original material… Lots of different stuff filled with plenty of 80’s synths - gotta love it! We’ve also got another couple of tracks featured on some new compilations, which we’ll give more info on when we get a release date!

I know, not a lot of news as such, but I just wanted to touch base with you guys and let you know we’re not dead, or sleeping, or having any kind of ‘break’ - we’re very much alive, working hard and will hopefully have some new material for you to all hear very soon!

As I say, lots of stuff in the pipeline so keep checking back for more info on that, and of course get following us on Twitter; It’s updated most days with various mundane thoughts and news so it’s a good laugh…

Much love, and thanks for all your support, emails, and messages!

Martin : Control-S

P.S. Just one last thing… Happy Birthday to Lee for last Friday! Pictures of his Hawaiian-themed party will be posted shortly, I’m sure!!

With mixes from MJ Cole, Ill Blu, Micky Slim, Penfold, Epydemix and of course ourselves, Control-S, this package is set to be massive in clubland over the holiday season. Check them out and download them right now via iTunes, or if you prefer another download store or prefer to get your music as a full quality .wav, no worries - the package will be available on all other download stores as of Monday 8th June.

As an added bonus, and somewhat of a rarity these days, this will also be seeing a vinyl (remember that?) release next week also featuring 4 mixes from the digital package, including both of MJ’s firing mixes as well as Ill Blu’s mix and our mix on the B-Side.

Added to this, the Prolific Recordings website has had a fresh re-vamp for the Summer to coincide with the release of “Gotta Have It”. There’s a brand new Podcast from the main man himself, MJ Cole, plus the opportunity to get your hands on a FREE track if you sign up to the newsletter… Could you really ask for anything more?

So make sure you check out the release and purchase your copy NOW; we hear the Control-S remix is a bit special but you can judge for yourself! haha.

More news and music coming from us in the next few weeks so keep an eye out!

Much love,

Ok, so Lee is away on Holiday (lucky bugger) while I’m here actually trying to enjoy the sun with a damn cold - seriously? It seems I’m susceptible to getting ill at the most random times in the year! Thank you, immune system! Anyway, I digress… While Lee is away I thought why not post something up here on more of a personal tip, so here goes (bear with me)!

As some of you may have read from our last post on here, we were recently in the studio with Sunship. We were working on a pretty big remix which I can’t say too much about right now as it’s not yet been confirmed for the release, but it was a lot of fun and good to have another head in the studio to bounce ideas around with. Now, some of you may also be aware of the reasoning behind our name, Control-S. For those of you that don’t, why don’t you? haha. Seriously though, our name first came to us when working on our remix of All The Way, the first track we ever made together. To cut a long story short, we ended up losing our work from not saving it, and being on a PC at the time the save function was Ctrl+S, which ended up being shouted out everytime we changed something when we started work on the track again… There you go, you’re up-to-date!

So there we were, sitting in the studio with Sunship on the Saturday night after a good 5-6 hours of work, pulling together all of our sounds and trying to figure out what else we needed. This was about 12:30am… Lee had work early the next morning so wanted to be gone by 1am. Then what happens? Our playback in Logic suddenly turns to white noise… No coherent samples what-so-ever! Naturally, I freaked out and swore quite a lot. There we are, doing one of the biggest and most important mixes of our career so far with a deadline of Monday and suddenly it seems like we’ve lost 3 days work in a split second!

I tried to be rational and save it, but it wasn’t having any of it. So i think “Ok, i’ll save it to another drive”, but no it’s not having that either! So I go into Finder to try to copy the folder to a different drive and what do i see? The folder is EMPTY… Completely empty! By now i’m getting ready to pull an all-nighter and start fresh but we try repairing the disk anyway to see if that helps… Nope! After spending almost an hour and a half trying to salvage our work, we decided to resort to taking screenshots of the project so we have something visual to work from, then we decide it’s time to shut down and see what happens and wave goodbye to our beloved project…

Then we start the computer up again, start up Logic and guess what… It’s all there, untouched, just as it was before all hell broke loose!!! As you can imagine I breathed a sigh of relief!! But seriously? All that messing around to find it’s absolutely fine? Come on! haha.

So anyway, it got me thinking… We’ve been working together now for 4 years and already lost a track and had 3 hard drive crashes (i think), our name is Control-S, which you’d think would remind us to save our work, and yet we’re STILL not backing stuff up… How ironic, or should I say idiotic? Either way, it’s a bit crazy! As you can expect, the first thing we did when we found the drive to be working again was back it up, but I really don’t wanna take that risk again, because not only would we lose all our music, but also all our company details, artwork, website backups, photos, and all the little things that don’t really matter but would as soon as you lost them! So I’m saying this now, we’re backing up EVERYTHING from now on, everyday, so if the dreaded does happen at least we know we’ve not lost everything!

So next time you hear us moaning about a crashed hard drive or an unsaved project, give us a slap and tell us it’s our own fault!

After all that, I’m out… Who knows, I might post some more ‘personal’ entries to the Blog again soon, if thats what you guys want - let us know! On a lighter note, we have some very good news which we’ll post up about over the weekend!

Much love,

Martin (& Lee who is due back from holiday soon and better have brought me back something good! haha)

Well well, it’s been a MAD few days at Control-S HQ. We’ve been busy in the studio trying to get a remix finished, with none other than the legendary Sunship! Thats right, we teamed up with one of the biggest and best names from back in the day for a remix which will hopefully see the light of day soon… More info on that to come! In the meantime we have plenty of photos from the studio sessions which we’ve uploaded to the Photos page on the website - check them out!!

We’ve also given the Audio page a little update with the recorded audio from our one-off show on Hype Radio a few weeks ago. Check it out now for some EXCLUSIVE plays of some new music from ourselves, and of course the usual banter!! There’s a full tracklisting of the show as well so you know what tracks to look out for over the next few months!

Big thanks goes out to everyone that tuned into the show live, it was good to have some listeners and some interaction in the chatroom going on! Thats one thing we’ve really missed about doing radio - the instant feedback on new tracks!

Anyway, we’ve got a lot planned over the the next few months so look out for some new music, and of course the collaboration with Sunship. We’ll give you some more info on that as and when we can! Until then though, check out the Photos and the Audio from the radio show and ENJOY…

Much love,

Ok so It’s been a while since we last blessed the radio frequencies, our last show on SubJam was actually almost 1 year ago… Oh how time flies when you’re having fun!?! Doing our radio show was a lot of fun and meant we could get some great feedback from listeners for any tunes we were working on… However, due to our increasingly busy schedule we had to call it a day for the show last year and hibernate in the studio for a while!!

As some of you may remember, before we started our show on SubJam we were doing a weekly show on the biggest UKG internet radio station, Hype Radio. Well, the good news is we’ll be doing a very special one-off show back on Hype Radio tomorrow afternoon (Bank holiday Monday, 4th May) from 2-4pm!

Thats right, we’ll be back on the decks for 2 hours of non stop music; Some blasts from the past, some brand new and EXCLUSIVE material, some news about what’s going on with us, and not forgetting the good old laughs and random banter! We’ve got so much new music to play, some of which will be played and heard for the very first time, so make sure you lock it tight to Hype Radio to be one of the first to hear what we’ve been working on for the past few months! We’ll even be answering any questions you guys may have for us via the Hype Radio Chatroom!

So set yourself a reminder and get yourself locked into the show tomorrow for some of the most upfront music around. Short notice, we know, but thats just how we roll! This will be a very special one-off show, but we will be trying our best to record it so we can upload it for those who didn’t catch it live… We can’t make any promises though!!

So thats tomorrow, Hype Radio, 2 ’til 4pm… Don’t miss it people!

Much love,
