So last time we checked in we’d just started work on our live show, and we’ve pretty much been on it non stop ever since; getting all the separate parts out of Logic and into a new project, re-arranging, programming new sections and sounds, getting our sounds onto Receptor, rehearsing (a lot!!), and trying to plan how this whole thing is going to work… It’s quite a big job!

It’s crazy just how much stuff we’ve had to think about while trying to put it all together, always with the mindset of trying to keep it as slimmed down as possible to start with, yet still trying to make an impact and make it sound huge! Well, we’re there (I think). The rest of the band is in place, and full rehearsals start next week, so now is where the hard work starts to get ourselves ready for our first show, which will hopefully be in January!

On top of this we’ve been in the studio working on new tracks, and trying to fit them into the live show too - it’s been manic! We finished a brand new track this week, which we can’t wait for people to hear - we’re really happy with the direction we’re going in now and can feel the momentum building!

So things are really kicking off right now, and it feels good. Having spent the majority of this year struggling to get our music heard, we’re getting there thanks to our new management. We’ve been in the studio over the past few months writing new material, and had the pleasure of writing with Dexy, which has brought a whole new edge to what we’re doing… Think indie-dance, but just more epic!

As of a few weeks ago we just started working on putting our live show together. It’s something we’ve wanted to do since we started writing for the EP, but always found an excuse not to sit down and make a start on it, until now. Lee’s been away in Egypt for the past 10 days so I’ve been sat in front of Logic bouncing all our stems for the backing track… I have to say it’s a bit exciting! Hearing everything completely raw and stripped down again really gave me the hunger to get this live show on the road, literally.

On top of this we’ve just had a brand new remix released through VG Records (Boy George and Marc Vedo’s label) of Nocturn The Blonde’s cover of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’, originally by Joy Division. That’s out on Beatport right now. We’ve also just done an exclusive 2-hour guest mix for Proton Radio, which is available to listen to On Demand.

So, all in all things are picking up nicely. Lots to get through over the next month or so - we’ll try to keep you updated!

The end of 2010 saw us finish our debut Evolutions EP, showcasing us as songwriters and performers as well as producers/ remixers. Simply put, it’s an entirely original four track fusion of everything we’re currently about - check out clips on our Soundcloud and let us know what you think!

We’ve also released the first in a new mixtape series from ourselves, entitled ‘Origins’. Over the past couple of years our musical influences have become increasingly broad, and that’s what you can expect from Origins; everything from dubstep to indie, hip-hop to garage… it’s all here. You can download volume one here for the bargain price of a tweet or Facebook status update… aren’t we good to you?

For the UK Garage fans we’ve also been hard at work. At the end of last year we put together a 2-step mix of GTE’s ‘Something On Your Mind’, drafting in Majestic for feature duties alongside Kelsey’s original vocals; you can grab it now from iTunes.

More recently we went to work on Del Gibbon’s ‘Freedom’, due for release at the end of April with a mix package that’s looking set to do big things… check it out now on our Soundcloud. In other good news, our remix of Audioplayerz ‘Crazy’ has been dragged off the shelf and is available on Juno Download now via Grooveland Records, with a date of February 14th set for full digital release. It’s one of our favourite remixes that we’ve crafted, so we’re very pleased to see it out there at last!

We’ve also had plenty of good feedback from our most recent guest show on Ministry of Sound Radio, jam-packed with all the upfront and classic UK Garage goodness you’d expect from us! Look out for another one in the not-too distant future…

We’ve got a lot planned for the coming weeks; first and foremost a couple of tracks for long-time collaborator Majestic’s forthcoming mixtape, due for release in the first quarter of 2011… they’re in the final stages as we type so keep your ears out! We’ve also signed up to play a set at Hotel Haçienda’s NME Awards Show after-party on 19th February alongside Everything Everything and XFM’s Christian Nash. Get your tickets now from Ticketmaster.

From next Monday (18th October 2010) at 8pm we’ll be giving away a free, yes FREE, track every week to our Fans on our Facebook page. As you may, or may not know, we recently released our latest single with Majestic, entitled “Tonight” featuring the vocal talents of none other than the lovely Clare Evers. That track has been on the go for a long time, and other projects meant we couldn’t release it as quickly as we’d liked, but it’s now available for download from all good download stores, with House, Garage and Bassline mixes from ourselves, TreMoreFire Dubz and Majestic. Check it out right now!

We’ve also been very busy concentrating on a new project which takes us in a totally different direction. We’re not yet sure whether we’re working on an EP or an album, but one thing is for sure this new stuff is 100% ours and we’re really pleased with how its coming together so far! We don’t really know how to class this stuff or what genre it would fall into, but it’s very exciting and it’s giving us a chance to be really creative with our sounds and production techniques. Some of you may have heard our most recent track, nineteen12nine, which we uploaded to our SoundCloud page not too long ago… This is really our first step into this new sound and the EP/album we’re working on; so check that out if you haven’t already and see what we’re working on.

We’re back in the studio tonight to get down to the mix of the 2nd track. Again, it’s 100% our baby - all the music, all the lyrics, everything; so we’re really hyped about it and hope that you guys will like it!

On the Garage tip, we recently had one of our mixes we did for HedKandi featured on the Addicted To Bass 2010 compilation, which is always nice! We’re also awaiting the release of our mix of Aaron Wride’s “Since You’ve Been Gone”, which will also feature mixes from Agent X and Bashy, so keep your eye out for that.

Also on the way is our remix of “Why” by Fireman ft. Hayleigh; an Electro mix we did a while back for Nev Wright and his camp. It’s due for release shortly on Urban Shakedown Recordings featuring additional mixes from Jamie Duggan and Paleface. Again, you can check out a clip of our mix on our SoundCloud page.

Thats about it for now, we just wanted to give you a little update about whats been going on and what you can expect from us over the coming months. As you may have already seen, we’re kicking off 2010 with a slightly new image and brand new logo, designed by our good friend Simon Tibbs, who also did the artwork for ‘Tonight’; the track we did with Majestic and Clare Evers last year. We figured it was time for a bit of a change to bring ourselves into 2010… What do you all think??

So, since Christmas we’ve been working on loads of new music for various projects. We’re currently working on material for Majestic’s second mixtape, which is still very much in the early stages but will hopefully be available in the next few months (though don’t hold us to that!). We’ve also been working on a Control-S EP, something we’ve wanted to do for a long time but never got round to, so thats pretty exciting! The EP is going to be very different from anything else you’ve heard from us, we’re really using this as a bit of a platform to experiment with no rules, so watch out for that - we’ll give you full details when we know more!

For all the fans of our Garage stuff, don’t worry - there’s more stuff coming for you too. Before Christmas we did another 2-Step remix for HedKandi which has now been accepted and will be featured on the next Ministry of Sound Addicted To Bass album, which will be available next month. We’ve also just done another Essential Garage show for Ministry of Sound Radio - check that out HERE (download link coming soon). This year we’re also going to try to get some of our unreleased stuff out there from the past few years - it’s no good having it all just sitting on our hard drive so we’re going to work on getting those available to you.

All in all, it’s been a pretty busy few months and it looks like it’s going to be a good year for us with loads of projects happening already. Just a quick post to let you all know that at 8pm tonight is our first of many semi-regular guest shows on Ministry of Sound Radio!

Last week saw the first instalment of the new ‘Essential Garage’ show, fronted by Ministry’s own FiSKiN. With regular guests The Wideboys, Agent X, Rossi B & Luca and of course ourselves, it’s the place to hear all the latest and most exclusive UKG.

Make sure you check in every Monday night 8-9pm and listen live via the Ministry of Sound website.  Each show will be up for playback at the Essential Garage homepage along with a full tracklisting for 7 days from first airing, in case you miss it first time around.

I just thought I’d let you all have a quick listen to something we finished recently. Again, very different from our ‘normal’ style (what is our normal style these days though??), but definitely one for the clubs! You can hear it right now over on the Audio page of the website, or via our SoundCloud page, if you’re into that! We might even be old school and upload it to our MySpace page!!

The track is called “Why” and is by Fireman ft. Hayleigh - there’s been a big bassline mix from Nev Wright & Detox floating around for a while which has been huge, our mix is another one for the package which will hopefully be seeing a release shortly - more info when we know!

Aaaanyway, though it may seem like we’ve been quiet for the past few months we’ve actually been pretty damn busy! Lots of stuff going on behind the scenes, which we’ll try to get some samples up of for you to check out, and just lots of ideas floating around, which is nice! Those of you following us on Twitter will know that I’ve been pretty inspired as of late, so we’ve been working really hard in the studio trying to get all this inspiration out!

I’m sure many of you have heard the remix we did for Chanel of “If You Love Me”, which is now featured on the Essential Garage Collection mixed by DJ EZ. We also did a remix for The Audioplayerz not so long ago which will hopefully be available soon… I have to say this is probably my favorite work yet, so make sure you check it out! Aside from those we’ve just been concentrating on original material… Lots of different stuff filled with plenty of 80’s synths - gotta love it! We’ve also got another couple of tracks featured on some new compilations, which we’ll give more info on when we get a release date!

I know, not a lot of news as such, but I just wanted to touch base with you guys and let you know we’re not dead, or sleeping, or having any kind of ‘break’ - we’re very much alive, working hard and will hopefully have some new material for you to all hear very soon!

As I say, lots of stuff in the pipeline so keep checking back for more info on that, and of course get following us on Twitter; It’s updated most days with various mundane thoughts and news so it’s a good laugh…
